摘要
Heat build-up of coated surfaces due to solar radiation and the resulting temperature increase of interiors is highly undesirable and even dangerous. To decrease the heat build-up of surfaces, coatings with special pigments with high IR reflectivity are used. Properties of coatings formulated using IR-reflective dark-coloured pigments are presented in comparison with some commercial coatings used for metal roofs. Coatings containing IR-reflective pigments undergo unconventional heat build-up, protect the steel, zinc and aluminium substrate against corrosion and do not lose their protective and reflective properties as they age.
