A brief summary is presented of the emerging stream of research on dynamic network equilibrium. The authors study the implications of the variability of the travel time as a function of the time of day. The general short path problem (GSPP) has been introduced by A. de Palma et al. for a network. For this problem the individual minimizes the utility function depending on travel time and schedule delay (see equation above). The authors have developed an algorithm to solve the GSPP in the case where congestion is an exogenous function of the time of day. Finally, the daily adjustment processes have been analyzed both from a theoretical and an experimental point of view.
