OPTICAL ANISOTROPY IN AS2S3 GLASS INDUCED WITH SUB-BANDGAP ILLUMINATION

摘要
Birefringence in As2S3 glass induced with illumination of 2.0 eV light has been studied. The birefringence is maximal when the sample is illuminated at 380 K. When the birefringence is induced with light propagated perpendicularly to a probe beam, circularly polarized light can induce the birefringence. The magnitude is approximately a half of that induced with linearly polarized light. These results are discussed on the basis of microscopic models.
