FREE FATTY ACIDS IN THE BLOOD SERUM AND LIPOLYTIC ACTIVITY OF ADIPOSE TISSUE OF RATS OF DIFFERENT AGES AFTER PARTIAL HEPATECTOMY

摘要
In the first 48 hr following partial hepatectomy (resection of 65-70 per cent of the liver tissue), changes in the content of FFA in the blood serum, changes in the lipolytic activity of the adipose tissue as well as the content of lipids and their oxidation products in the liver tissue remaining after the resection developed in approximately the same way in 3-month-old and in 24-month-old rats. In the 24-month-old rats the decrease in glycemia after partial hepatectomy was deeper and more protracted than in the 3-month-old rats after the same operation. The importance of these changes in the maintenance of nearly normal liver regeneration at great ages is discussed.
