摘要
Zinc chloride activated carbons and steam activated carbons were prepared from rice husk. The surface area of these carbons were determined by nitrogen adsorption at -196-degrees-C. Treatment with nitric acid creates acidic centres on the carbon surface. It seems that copper ion adsorption from aqueous solution is related to the surface acidity as measured by calorimetric method. The extent of surface area is not a prominent factor in this particular application.
