摘要
Industry is increasing its use of synchrotron radiation, particularly in the area of materials science. The four most popular techniques, in order of use, are EXAFS, powder diffraction, small angle scattering and protein crystallography. The UK statistics for this industrial usage are presented. Examples are given to explain the reasons for the popularity of EXAFS and the growing interest in powder diffraction as a means of structure refinement, materials characterisation and dynamic analysis.
