SHEAR PLUG FORMATION IN CONCRETE SLABS SUBJECTED TO HARD IMPACT

摘要
This paper summarizes the likely causes of hard impact at low velocities (0-25 m/s); then discusses the various modes of impact damage found in concrete structures, namely, spalling, scabbing/shear plug formation, penetration and perforation. Possible damage phenomena in concrete slabs subjected to impact loading is discussed in detail. Experimental results from tests, undertaken by the authors, on 20 reinforced concrete slabs are presented. The influence of the contact force, during impact, on the extent of damage is discussed with respect to the tests undertaken. © 1990.
