Is the SYMLOG-rating-method practically applicable and helpful for the supervision of educational staff, which is working with groups? The method was analysed by using five educationally remedial groups of children. Some heuristic hypothesis of the SYMLOG-method were related, with the help of a modified version of the SYMLOG-questionnaire, to these groups. Furthermore, they were evaluated with respect to their validity as well as their informational and stimulational content. Accordingly, the SYMLOG-method for the supervision of social group-projects is on the whole innovative and interesting. However, the process is obviously too time consuming. In order to increase its practicability, a less time consuming application possibility of the method will be considered.
