SUPERCONDUCTOR-INSULATOR TRANSITION IN ND2-XCEXCUO4 SINGLE-CRYSTAL THIN-FILMS

The transport properties of high-T(c) oxide-superconductor Nd2-xCexCuO4 single-crystal thin films were investigated to clarify the superconductor-insulator transition in two-dimensional disordered system. It is found that the critical sheet resistance R square at the onset of superconductivity takes a value within a range from 6k-OMEGA to 8k-OMEGA, which is close to the value h/4e2 = 6.45k-OMEGA. Our experiments provide with an interesting system for revealing the physical origin of the superconductor-insulator transition.
