NEW-ZEALAND AGRICULTURE AND ITS ECONOMIC-CONDITIONS

The report contains basic data on New Zealand and its agricultural sector, it describes the dismantling of public support for News Zealand's agriculture and shows how New Zealand's farmers continue farming with virtually no subsidies. The present situation of New Zealand's rural sector is outlined in greater detail. It is shown that the still existing high degree of dependence upon the export of commodities is a disadvantage for New Zealand. However, in spite of difficult economic overall conditions at national and world market level, the country succeeds increasingly in maintaining markets abroad or in opening up new outlets by means of high quality and good marketing, by using market niches and by processing to a growing extent in New Zealand.
