摘要
This article aims to discuss babies in early childhood education and the training of professionals to work with them. To this end, we mobilized historical data about day-care centers and teacher education policies, mainly from documentary sources, bibliographies and interviews. The data shows a discrimination when it comes to teaching with babies, especially based on an analysis of tenders to work in kindergartens and / or pre-schools in the municipalities of Sao Carlos and Campinas. The way babies' classes are organized, the number and the training of professionals who work in nurseries in cities other than the state of Sao Paulo, also contribute to our conclusions. Finally, it is pointed to the continued formation in postgraduate courses and the contributions that the continuing education can offer to support changes in teaching pedagogical practices aimed at the babies.
