摘要
Islam views the family as an institution which shapes the society to be built. Parents in particular are important individuals in the family who play the role of bringing the family towards well-being and the pleasure of Allah swt. A father as leader of the family has a greater responsibility to be the role model to his wife and children. However, various crises and conflicts that occur in the domestic household and family issues involve a father's personality such as bad or hot temper, incest, abuse, neglect to provide maintenance, just to name a few. Therefore, the objectives of this study are to review the personality concept in Islam and further identify the personality traits of the father from the Islamic perspective. This research is designed as a qualitative study using content analysis approach. The results of this study show that personality in Islam can be seen through the state of the human psyche which is expressed through external action. There are four personality traits of the father from the Islamic perspective identified in this study. It may have an impact on the development of a father's personality towards the well-being of the family and the Islamic community.
