About the social function of the good nahualli

One of the most common elements in the Mesoamerican world-view is the belief in a transforming ritual specialist, named nahualli. However, even if the ancient Aztec sources mark a difference between a good nahualli and an evil one, we must accept that we don't have much information about its social function. Considering that the characteristics of evil one may be defined in opposition to the good one, our estimate is that we must begin by defining the social role of the good nahualli first.
