In order to make optical fibers with excellent radiation resistance characteristics in a wide wavelength region, fluorine-doped silica-core fibers instead of pure-silica-core fibers were studied. Also the effect of H-2 doping fluorine-doped fibers was investigated. As a result, it has been clarified that fluorine doping makes the usable wavelength region of fibers extremely wide and H-2 doping on fluorine-doped fibers makes radiation resistance characteristics of fibers significantly stronger.
