摘要
Parenteral Therapy and Foreign Particles/3. Comm.: Particulate matter produced by injection The behaviour of cannulae at injection was investigated. The experiments were carried out with human skin, as well as with model membranes such as PVC or Gelatine. Some of the cannulae generated particulate matter from the skin or from the membranes with the risk of course that these particles may be injected into the patient. In the case of normal cannulae, this was due to an insufficient removal of the sharp metal waste produced by the grinder at the finishing stage. Needles for spinal use produced particles, when the configuration of the mandrin was poor. In the case of venipuncture devices with catheter-over-needles the tip configuration of the catheter proved to be critical.
