摘要
The use of a non-oriented state in the magnetic recording channel is proposed as a means to allow coding without increasing the channel symbol density. It is shown that when binary-to-ternary convolutional codes of rate 1 are used with a decision feedback equalizer, a performance comparable to maximum likelihood sequence estimation is obtained with only moderate code complexities.
