Subjectivities On-Line: Between Global Monitoring And Self-Reference

From anthropological, communicational and sociological readings, this essay seeks to reflect on how the use and appropriation of information technologies have led to new forms of subjectivity, surveillance, control and social security. Concepts such as panoptic, synoptic, security and identity have become recurrent in social debates on technologies, especially when we attend a world in which the digital has changed the way we recognize, represent and be in the world.
