摘要
A novel method to follow pulping kinetics uses compressive strength tests parallel to the grain on partially pulped white pine (Pinus monticola) blocks. The blocks were tested wet for compressive strength, and lignin measurements were made to correlate lignin content with strength. A phenomenological model was used to describe the pulping process. Kinetic data of fractional core volumes of unconverted wood were generated using the 'rule of mixtures' based on strength.
