摘要
This article analyzes the beliefs and cultural practices related to the beginning of the third millennium, in the city of Fortaleza - Ceara. Therefore, we searched these events in newspapers (O Povo and Diario do Nordeste), from 1998 until 2001. According these media outlets, millions of people expected that the Reveillon 2000 could to inaugurate the third millennium. Symbolically, a year full of zeros encourage us to return some superstitions, that guaranteed us a life full of happiness. However, this passage would occur only in the following year, in 2001. We can perceive all the uniqueness that we are starting a new millennium on the Reveillon 2000 (psychological millennium), and subsequently all the disappointment face the Reveillon 2001 (chronological millennium). However, despite these disappointments, we continue to wonder how will the day of tomorrow and draw a horizon of expectations.
