SOME PARAMETRIC SENSITIVITY ANALYSES FOR HIGH-VELOCITY IMPACT COMPUTATIONS

摘要
This paper presents a variety of two- and three-dimensional impact computations performed with the EPIC code, which has recently been combined and modified to include one-, two-, and three-dimensional capabilities. The first portion of the paper provides EPIC computations of yawed rod impacts onto thin plates, and a comparison of the computed results to experimental data. The primary portion involves a parametric sensitivity study for a normal impact problem and an oblique impact problem. Here the effects of grid size, fracture, sliding/eroding interface algorithms, and geometry (axisymmetric, plane strain, three-dimensional) are examined.
