Analysis of project management problems: A study of the Colombian enterprise context

The purpose of this article is to investigate project management problems within the Colombian enterprise context by developing a study of organizations that implement projects in different economic sectors throughout the country. A literature review on project management problems was conducted. An 11-dimension instrument was developed and applied to a sample of 19 companies in order to identify opportunities for improvement and to apply the instrument. Subsequently, the instrument was applied to 204 organizations that perform projects in different industries throughout the country. Dimensions such as risks, stakeholders, integration, and other elements that generate major project management issues in the Colombian enterprise context were identified. Finally, study results and conclusions were documented and future lines of research were identified.
