摘要
Heart failure with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a very common form of heart failure typically seen in older patients and associated with poor prognosis. Patients with HFpEF are characterized by a s small left ventricle with concentric remodeling and abnormal compliance, which under the impact of additional cardiovascular mechanisms and non-cardiac comorbidities, leads to the cardinal symptoms of dyspnea and exercise intolerance. The diagnosis of HFpEF is still under debate, and the therapeutic options are limited despite intensive research efforts. In the present review article, we provide an overview of the current understanding of the pathiohysiology of HFpEF, the current diagnostic approach, and a summary of the available evidence on treatment.
