CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF ZN-AL-CU ALLOY IN SODIUM-CHLORIDE SOLUTION - ELECTROCHEMICAL RESULTS

摘要
The corrosion behavior of Zn-22 Al-1 Cu alloy was examined by cathodic polarization in 0.5 M NaCl solution. The formation of Al2O3 x H2O seems to be spontaneous after pretreatment of the electrode at cathodic potentials. A second specie, Zn(OH)2, can be formed only under anodic polarization. Electrochemical noise was utilized in order to evaluate alternatively the corrosion behavior of Zn-Al-Cu alloy. The noise response observed showed a transient behavior typical of oxide film covered materials.
