摘要
The spatial dependence properties of the gain offered by long erbium-doped amplifiers in a soliton transmission system are accurately investigated. The possibility of reaching a prefixed value of gain with a variety of different configurations is proved, showing that significant deviations from the ideal behaviour are possible in principle. Their effect on the shape of propagating soliton is also discussed.
