THE POLITICAL-ECONOMY OF MIGRATION AMONG THE ORAON

This paper deals with the migration of the Oraon tribal community within the framework of socio-economic and political context. Their history of migration has been divided into three distinct phases. Each phase qualitatively differs from other phases. In course of migration, their society has visualized a gradual-transformation from egalitarianism and political autonomy to an intermediate phase of marginal subjugation and then to the final phase of complete subjugation.
