A PECULIAR COMMUNITY OF SMALL MAMMALS FROM THE TRANSIENT-TO-PONTIAN ZONE OF THE MEIOTIS IN THE SOUTH-WESTERN UKRAINE

For the first time geological conditions of deposition have been described for malacological and microtheriological faunas with their species composition established for the locality of Orekhovka, Odessa region. The locality belonging to delta formations of transient-to-Pontian zone may serve as a point of direct correlation of continental and marine beds. Orekhovka microtheriofauna may be compared with Upper Turolian faunas of Western Europe - the uppermost part of the 13th biozone of the Mein.
