When setting up a computer-assisted process control, sometimes rather serious problems have to be solved because the systems available on the market are hardly able to meet specific in-plant requirements. This concerns particularly the practical handling of data acquisition at the employee's working place on the production sector. That is why a special solution was implemented in the case example described here: in a PC network one main place is charged with administration, evaluation and control, while the individual measuring desks at the actual production place are equipped with simple and thus error-free operating elements.
