SPECIAL FEATURES OF GAS BEHAVIOR DURING STEELMAKING IN HIGH PRODUCTIVITY ELECTRIC-ARC FURNACES

摘要
The behaviour of gases, particularly hydrogen and nitrogen, during the production of various grades of steel in a high productivity electric arc furnace has been studied by extensive sampling of the metal and gas phase. It is concluded that degassing in the oxidising period of the heat is not an important factor here, and that decarburisation in this period must be governed only by needs such as bath homogenisation, removal of slag impurities, and metal heating.
