Compositional dependence of the structural and optical properties of the Cu1-xAgxGaS2 system has been studied. Whereas the compositional dependence of the lattice constant ''a'' was linear, those for the lattice constant ''c'' and the optical band gap showed upward bowing. The phase diagram of this system was also studied by means of differential thermal analysis (DTA), and solid solubility throughout this whole system was found. The transition point is a chalcopyrite-to-zincblende transition at x < 0.5. It was found that the emission spectra for this system have two peaks, the energies of which depend on the composition x.
