摘要
By using a simplified model for calculating the action effects in asphaltic pavements on orthotropic decks of steel bridges and by comparing the results with data from inspection reports, it has been possible to define the ultimate resistance of these pavements. From this, the minimum stiffness requirement for the stringers of orthotropic decks in the draft of German steel road-bridge code DIN 18809 is derived. Results of theoretical studies on the material behaviour of the asphaltic pavements are reported. These can be used to identify areas of improvement for the mechanical properties of asphaltic pavements on orthotropic steel bridge decks.
