The FIR spectra of the binary system (O2)1-x-(N2)x (x = 0; 0.01; ...; 1.0) are measured in the spectral region 20-100 cm-1 and the temperature interval 8-47 K. The influence of nitrogen impurity on the intensity, the half-width and the position of the magnon and phonon modes of solid oxygen are investigated. It is found that the decrease in the integrated absorption intensity with increasing nitrogen concentration in the solution seems to be due to the common decrease in the alpha-O2 amount in the sample (the effect similar to that of the sample thickness decrease in pure solid oxygen).
