摘要：
Most research interest in the requirements determination part of software development has been in suggesting methodologies. Such an approach has been successful in software design. But requirements is concerned with questions of 'what' and 'why' - which do not fit easily into a structured or formalised recipe. The first objective for any research therefore must be to undertake empirical studies to see what actually happens in requirements determination, and how and why this differs from textbook prescriptions. This paper is an empirical study of systems analysts at work in the software industry and how they interact with users in developing requirements.
