摘要
An analysis of male genital morphology, biology and distribution of the "small" genera of Asilinae allows to consider that one of the most ancient branches of the subfamily had formed a specific forest fauna at the beginning of the miocene. Members of this fauna have simplified venation, big-sized male genitals and very massive edeagus, weak difference of integumental bristles and hairs. Parallelly with the climatic aridization, increase of the surfaces occupied with grass communities, it increased also the number of asiliid species inhabiting meadows, meadow-steppes, steppes and later deserts. 4 genera and 14 species from the typical forest inhabitants persist till recently. They form the group "pamponerus". Namely this group is close to basic parts of the phyletic lines of the biggest taxa in the family - subtribes Neomoehtherina and Machimina.
