Helicobacter pylori infection plays an important role in the development of gastric adenocarcinoma in humans. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate reparation, apoptosis and cell-cycle regulation in the pathogen-affected cells. The article regards the activation of ATM-kinase substrates Chk2 and p53 in eukaryotic cells after infection with H. pylori P12. It is stated that infection leads to phosphorylation of Chk2 by the kinase, different from ATM in HeLa and AGS cells. At the same time, activation of p53, one of the substrates of Chk2, is not detected.
