NORMAL MODE PROPAGATION IN A SLIGHTLY IRREGULAR 3-DIMENSIONAL WAVE-GUIDE WITH CRITICAL CROSS-SECTIONS

The acoustic field in a slightly irregular waveguide formed by a low-velocity layer of variable thickness on a homogeneous half-space is investitated. An asymptotic expansion is obtained for the field in the vicinity of critical cross sections and near the extremal ray tangent to a critical cross section.
