ASPECTS OF 3-D IMAGING, DISPLAY AND MEASUREMENT IN LIGHT AND SCANNING ELECTRON-MICROSCOPY

Methods for enhancing the understanding of complex structures, including stereo-image display (static stereo-parallax), pseudoholograms (multiple stereo viewpoints), and continuous motion parallax from rotational displays are common to all the 3-D microscopies. Measurement and reconstruction of relative co-ordinates is necessary for the exact understanding of a structure or topography. Methods for the acquisition, analysis and measurement of 3-D images in methods ancillary to x-ray microscopy (SEM, confocal and conventional LM) are considered.
