摘要
Approximately 400 million lbs of sizing chemicals per year enter textile finishing waste streams from the designing operations. The authors explain how these size chemicals can be recovered and then reused in the slashing operation. Using as an estimate 1% size concentration in desizing waste water, the amount of water used for desizing approaches 5 billion gallons per year. Assuming that the average temperature is 180 degree F, the energy value for the desize waste water is approximately 5 multiplied by 10**1**2 Btus per year. It is also shown how some of this water and energy can be recovered.
