Considering the case of the residual mean squares of deviation from the linear regression, if they are not homogeneous across all genotypes, thus a power transformation of data was proposed. To test the adequacy and necessity of transformation, the effects of transformation on the mechanism of inheritance of stability in dynamic models were discussed by analysing the fresh data of 9 X 9 diallel crosses of Arabidopsis thaliana. No difference was found between original and transformation scales in the combining abilities and the mechanism of inheritance of growth, stability. However, the magnitudes of interactions, the heterogeneity among regressions, and heterosis was reduced by using data transformation because of the removal of heterogeneity of variance.
