The construction of the others. Social groups in the writings of the Colombian elites in the second half of the nineteenth century

The article analyzes the relations of social groups from the writings of the Colombian elites in the second half of the XIX century. As sources were used XIX century texts, publications on social history and sociology. The elites, through writing and publishing, developed the ability to build images with valuation charges and the possibility of establishing barriers between relatively homogeneous groups. The basis for the differences was the human condition, humans were members of the elite, most of the population was classified as almost human and some were considered in a animal state. The human condition was the basis for the construction of others.
