Malignant melanoma during pregnancy: a case report

We herein present a case report concerning the early diagnosis and successful treatment of a patient with malignant melanoma during pregnancy. Pregnant firstborn covering the 25th week of pregnancy was admitted to the outpatient clinic with cutaneous painful skin lesion in the region of the right thigh. On clinical examination revealed the presence of ulceration in soil preexisting nevus. The clinical suspicion of malignancy led to the decision for histological examination of the lesion confirmed the diagnosis. The patient was referred to an organized center, where he underwent wide resection of malignant melanoma of the skin. There were no need lefadenectomy local lymph nodes and the application of complementary treatment. Now in its 37th week of pregnancy, after spontaneous rupture of the fetal membranes our patient underwent cesarean section due to breech. The postoperative course was smooth. In this work, after the presentation of the event we attempted literature review of malignant melanoma during pregnancy, in particular in the modern diagnostic approach.
