Think Tanks in the United States and Critical Theory of the State

Think tanks today hold a fundamental place in the United States political power structure; this is also increasingly true worldwide. However, not only the question of the state has been poorly developed in studies concerning this phenomenon, this object of research still occupies a very marginal place in studies about the state. The purpose of this work is to critically evaluate the main approaches to think tanks in the United States in order to suggest a possible theoretical route for integrating the study of think tanks with a critical examination of the question of the state in a new research program.
