CLASSICAL AND QUANTUM MELTING OF A COULOMB CLUSTER IN A TRAP

摘要
An electron cluster in a 2D trap with an effective potential aR2 is considered. The quantum melting of this system is investigated by the path integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) method and is compared with the classical melting. Quantum melting takes place for lambda=hBAR2e-4/3m-1/2a1/6 approximately 0.1.
