INFLUENCE OF SPEED LIMITS ON ROAD AND MOTORWAY ON POLLUTANT EMISSIONS

摘要：
A synthesis of CO, THC and NOx emissions, measured on vehicles samples in Europe, has been carried out, taking account of vehicle speed. The influence of speed regulation on roads (80, 90, 100 km/h) and motorways (100, 120, 130 km/h, no speed limit) on French traffic emissions has been evaluated from data and hypothesis on speed distributions. We observed no influence or only a slightly negative one for hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, and a low influence for nitrogen oxides. However, such measurements might have a higher impact (for 5 to 10 years) than the future European standards on pollutant emissions.
