摘要
Despite the relatively low growth potential of the proximal physis, radial neck fractures in children have a high rate of spontaneous growth correction. Therefore, mild to moderately dislocated fractures in young children have a good prognosis. Highly dislocated fractures can not be corrected by spontaneous growth alone and are therefore more problematic. Depending on the degree of dislocation and method of reduction and fix-ation a complication rate of up to 50 % can be expected, such as non-union, growth arrest, heterotopic ossifications, necrosis of the head or radioulnar synostosis. These risks can be reduced by a gentle and if possible closed reduction and internal fixation.
