摘要
Polybenzimidazole (PBI) and crosslinked vinyl polymers have been chemically modified with nitrile groups using various methods both homogeneous and heterogeneous. The chemically modified polymers have been used as supports to immobilize palladium(II) to form the basis of Wacker-type catalysts. A cyanomethylated PBI-supported palladium(II) complex (PBI-Bz-CH2CN/PdCl2) is believed to be a coordinately unsaturated species, and it displays remarkable thermo-oxidative stability to approximately 400-degrees-C.
