摘要
Scanning tunneling microscopy has been used to image rutile TiO2(100) in ultrahigh vacuum. We have imaged several atomic scale features after surface preparation corresponding to reconstructions on this crystal. our work has focused primarily on the 1 x 3 reconstruction produced after annealing at 500 to 600-degrees-C. We have also observed features corresponding to the 1 x 5 and 1 x 7 reconstructions by annealing at higher temperatures.
