摘要
The microstructure and the mechanical properties of alumina ceramics doped with yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia were investigated depending on the quality of the raw material and the process parameters of specimen production. Doping with 30 wt% ZrO2 (Y2O3) resulted in a strength of about 530 MPa, which was increased by about 10% by means of nitrogen cooling. The size of the ZrO2 particles varied between 0·4 and 0·5 μm. Electron microscopy studies revealed a partial transformation of the ZrO2 particles and the rather inhomogeneous transformation behaviour depending on the grain size. © 1990.
