摘要
Transformations of stable quasicrystals to complicated crystalline phases (approximants) have been reported in many studies. Are approximants equilibrium phases, and what kind of transformation takes place between quasicrystals and their approximants? Does this transformation mean the absolute instability of quasicrystals at low temperatures? These questions are discussed on the basis of an experimental study of the Al-Cu-Co alloy system.
