The use of intraoperative endoscopy to localize a site of recurrent intestinal bleeding is reported wherein, once identified, the lesion was managed surgically without an enterostomy but with transluminal suture ligation. This technique is particularly attractive for use in debilitated or elderly patients and those with advanced decompensated liver disease complicated by portal hypertension. © 1993 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
