摘要
Some factors influencing the abundance and foraging patterns of the black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus) throughout the nesting season in South Moravia are addressed. Precipitation caused a significant increase in numbers of foraging gulls in field habitats. Average foraging distance decreased during rainy days and also ower time during the nesting season (April to June). A similar trend was also observed with the average number of individuals at any one time during the nesting season. Time of day also affected gulls abundance in habitats, with a greater number observed in morning hours. From April to June, gulls collected insects mainly from aquatic environments, and in July, the majority used water-side poultry farms as their source of food.
